20 April 1992 Arrival of their majesties at around 11.30 a.m. Military salute Inspecting the guard of honour and parade Their majesties enter the ceremonial marquee and take their places Raising of the flags of the Bureau International des Expositions and the Seville World Exposition to the music of 'Sevilla' (Suite Espa ola, no. 3) from Albéniz Speeches: The Commissioner General of the World Exposition - The mayor of Seville The president of the regional government of Andalusia - The president of the republic H. M. the king Concluded by the king officially declaring the 1992 Seville World Exposition open National anthem 21 gun salute The pavilions open their doors at 12.15 p.m.; 38 bells in the churches and monastery in Seville ring out; more than 100 hot-air balloons in the colours of the participating countries rise up into the air; 5,000 pigeons fly into the sky.
