Ecuador

Fourfold diversity

Three drastically different landscapes are characteristic of Ecuador: the subtropical desert in the west, the Andes mountains and the Amazon jungle in the east. Furthermore, there is the Galapagos-archipelago, which lies 1,000 kilometres off the mainland and features a unique population of animals and plants. The gigantic Galapagos-iguana, for example, lives only on these Ecuadorian islands.

The country's diversity is reflected in the pavilion's design. Four paths lead from the building's centre to the corners. Screens placed in alcoves along the paths introduce flora, fauna and cultural variety.
