At the "Cyclebowl", pavilion of the "Green Dot" company Duales System Deutschland (Dual System Germany), the ball gets rolling: An opera in three acts conveys the concept of a resource-efficient 'life-cycle economy'. "We wanted to do more than just set up a pavilion and an exhibition, and engage in the topic artistically," explains scenographer Uwe Brückner. The opera's first act takes place in a labyrinth of hedges, through which the visitors approach the pavilion. Inside the pavilion proper, experimental laboratories, mirror halls, peaceful images of nature and computer animations render the concept of a 'life-cycle economy' into an extraordinary journey of exploration (second act). Finally, in the third act, the pavilion is displayed in particular light and radiance. Through the use of recyclable building materials and environmentally friendly technology, the "Cyclebowl" sets an example of sustainability. Its air-conditioning system is a world novelty on this scale. It uses water for heat storage as well as for cooling.
